Today I'm sharing with you the best pumpkin recipes for weight loss. Pumpkin is my favorite food to substitute heavier ingredients in recipes. It's lighter, lower in calories and delicious!

What Makes A Good Pumpkin Recipe for Weight Loss?

When it comes to weight loss, the recipes should be higher in fiber, lower in added sugar and have a slightly higher fat content. This goes against what you have probably been told, but here's the thing.

Higher fat and higher fiber are shown to keep you full and keep your blood sugar stable. Unlike recipes that are much lower calorie with a higher carbohydrate content that leave you feeling empty and deprived, these will actually make you feel satisfied. That means you can have one of the items listed below without repeatedly going back for more.

What Sugar Is Best With Pumpkin Recipes for Weight Loss?

Real sugar! Maple syrup, honey, maple sugar and coconut sugar are the best sugars even for weight loss. Low calorie and zero calorie sugars come with a cost. They have a lot of chemicals!

It is unknown what the long term effects are of these chemicals, but it is scientifically shown that artificial sweeteners increase sugar cravings and cause GI distress. So, even when losing weight it's important to stick to the real stuff.
