Low Sugar Turmeric Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup made with real pumpkin and comforting antioxidant rich spices. A syrup that adds flavor, not calories to your morning coffee! Store in the fridge for an easy addition to your morning routine. Gluten free + Low Calorie + Vegan + Paleo

Low Sugar Turmeric Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup made with real food ingredients.

I get a little anxious when someone in my personal life asks me something health, fitness or photography related. Take the PT guy who's been coming to my house rehabbing me from hip surgery.

He wanted to see my photography and literally, I wanted to hide under a rock and die. That sounds stupid, but I feel that way anytime someone asks me that.

I guess part of me isn't yet comfortable being seen as an expert and willing to put myself out there for others to judge. After all, these are things I L-O-V-E doing. How could I be an expert in something I like doing so much?

Vegan Turmeric Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup. Perfect for adding to your morning coffee!

This relates to this Turmeric Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup because a friend recently asked my opinion on pumpkin spice lattes. She's been drinking them for years and loves them, but is trying to lose weight. These questions make me feel the same way as the ones about my photography.

Unsure. Unsure, if I'm willing to share my knowledge with my personal life people. I know, I'm weird. You don't have to tell me this.

Paleo Turmeric Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup! A healthier take on Starbucks PSL that's lower in sugar and better for you.

I told her I'd give her my honest opinion, but made her promise she wouldn't hold it against me. Meanwhile, my heart was racing out of my chest as I was explaining to her my many concerns with PSL's.

From the lack of real pumpkin, high calorie count (260-420) to the 40% DV of saturated fat and mountain of sugar. Let's not even talk about the inflammatory response, blood sugar spike and potential weight gain that comes with this fancy, high priced drink.

Basically, I told her if she wanted to gain weight it was a awesome option {<- sarcasm at it's finest}.

Turmeric Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup is for PSL lovers who want their coffee healthy.

The look on her face when I told her this was so sad. It was as if I killed her puppy and it nearly broke my heart. Thankfully, we're still friends.

Believe me when I say I know exactly how she felt though.

That gut wrenching feeling of giving up something you love for your health which more often than not, we won't give up unless we have a suitable alternative slammed immediately in our face. Hopefully, this Turmeric Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup helps those of you in similar situations.

Make your Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup at home for a fraction of the cost and it's healthier too!

Turmeric Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup

Just a few simple ingredients and magical spices are simmered together in 5 MINUTES to make this comfroting, homemade Turmeric Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup.

Even better, it makes a ton of syrup so you can store it in the refrigerator so you can top your coffee with it every single morning.

A thick, sweet, luscious syrup that tastes like heaven, loaded with healing antioxidants that won't make you gain weight or cause adverse side effects? You better get in on this action!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2/3 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric

Instructions

  • Bring a small pot to medium heat and add maple syrup, pumpkin puree, almond milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and turmeric.
  • Simmer, stirring constantly until ingredients are thoroughly mixed, thickened and fragrant. The sauce will be very thick and the smell is incredible!
  • Turn the heat off and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  • Cool the syrup in the pot prior to transferring to a sealable container to store in the refrigerator.
  • Pour 1-2 tablespoons of the syrup into any regular coffee (iced or hot) or espresso and top with additional cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and turmeric as desired. You can also add the syrup and blend it with your coffee to make it super frothy and thick.
  • Syrup keeps in the refrigerator 4-6 weeks.

Thank you for this recipe Megan - my mom and I are obsessed with it!! Would you consider doing a spiced chai recipe with almond milk? I love a good "dirty chai latte", but as I'm sure you know they tend to have a ton of added sugar. I'd love to see what you come up with!

Hi! I'm French and we don't use "pumpkin spices" but I discovered this at Starbucks and now I crave for it.... Would it work with all kind of pumpkin, or do you recommend a specific one?

Any kind of pumpkin would work. If you don't have pumpkin spice, you can always use cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom in place.

I’ve pinned this to my favourite web snacks and drinks board.

I have to confess that pumpkin spice latte is something that I’ve never tried yet Megan. I’ve only ever had a sip of one, and I thought that too sweet for me.

This turmeric pumpkin spice coffee syrup sounds much healthier though. And I love your pumpkin themed photographs too!

Yes! I've been swimming and cycling for two weeks now. Even lifting weights. Basically I am doing everything I did before, I just can't walk on my own yet.

LOVE THIS & you being honest! I honestly can't believe people still don't know how calorie dense & fat laden these drinks are... but I guess many don't read about it or the stats....

I think you should be proud of all your accomplishments!!!

Hope you are feeling better day by day!

I love that created a healthier PSL alternative! I don't get them ever because of how much sugar they have, but still crave the pumpkin spice flavor sometimes. This is the most perfect option for those days. Love that you used turmeric for color!

This is SO great! I'm obsessed with PSLs, but I rarely have them because I know they're not exactly healthy! Plus, I have a Costco-sized bottle of turmeric in my pantry that desperately needs some attention. 🙂 So glad that you shared your knowledge with the internet!

Why does it feel like a shameful thing? I wonder this all the time. Good to know I'm not the only one who feels that way.
