I sure love me some fish! Not only is it a great source of lean protein, many varieties are high in omega-3 fatty acids which are shown to reduce inflammation, raise good cholesterol (which helps to lowers bad LDL cholesterol) and help maintain a healthy weight.
Omega-3’s are not produced by the body and they must be obtained from a nutrient-dense diet. The problem though? Most people are not getting enough of them!
Most people also are not getting enough lean, high-quality protein in their diet. As you age, muscle mass decreases with changing hormones. Muscle decrease equates to a slower metabolism. So, it’s important to get high-quality lean protein in your diet to counteract this decline.
