My client Karrie lost 24 pounds and 2 pant sizes after 35 years of dieting by ditching perfectionism.

Karrie began one-on-one weight loss coaching in January 2023 and we ended our coaching in January 2024.

She dieted on and off for 35 years. She began dieting at 16 years old when she first went to Weight Watchers. Karrie even went to other nutritionists and dietitians.

When she began working with me, she was living and dying by the scale and her mindset was deep into perfectionism.

Karrie always thought she had to be perfect day-in and day-out in order to see results and in order to maintain results.

The scale was definitely her enemy and for several months I had Karrie stay away from the scale so we could focus on her mindset and habits.

She was afraid of making a mistake and gaining weight from that mistake.

Karrie was eating low carb prior to our coaching and eating small meals, but snacking a lot in between meals.

fitness woman before and after weight loss.

She wasn’t sleeping well and dragging throughout the day. She was constantly hungry.

During weight loss coaching, we worked on building bigger more balanced meals with protein and fiber and introducing complex carbs. This kept Karrie more satiated which resulted in her snacking less.

Karrie was also doing a significant amount of cardio when we started, which was impacting her hunger and energy. We worked on reducing her cardio and introduced strength training to control her hunger and energy better.

We also spent time in two separate fat loss phases and in maintenance.

In her first fat loss phase, the scale did not change much. However, her measurements went down significantly which meant that she lost body fat and gained muscle.

This is a significant learning opportunity for listeners because the scale doesn’t measure fat loss well!

In Karrie’s second fat loss phase, the scale weight finally began to change along with measurements. Sometimes this is just how the scale works!

It is so important for women over 35 to learn from Karrie’s story because often women think nothing’s working because they’re only using the scale to measure progress.

This is why taking measurements and looking at all data is important in a fat loss journey!

Ironically, the scale became meaningless to Karrie through our coaching after years of living and dying by it.

Karrie says the most important shift was her mindset and explains what she learned and her advice to other women over 35 trying to lose weight.

Listen to Karrie’s amazing story of how she lost 24 pounds and 2 pant sizes but more importantly, why she says she can sustain this weight loss forever!
