Wondering how to stop nighttime snacking? Listen to Martha's transformation and how she went from nighttime snacker to full-time meal prepper!
When Martha began coaching with me in the 6-month program, she was a nighttime snacker. She didn't plan meals and often skipped meals. That led to her coming home and snacking at night on the couch, and she wanted to change this behavior.
Martha's nighttime snacking was the real problem that needed to be addressed. Of course, helping her build better balanced meals helped with the nighttime snacking but the real barrier to changing this behavior was her mindset.
Martha was an expert in beating herself up and putting herself down for not doing things right or not learning new skills fast enough. We coached a lot around her mindset, how she perceived herself, her self-esteem and her WHY's around losing weight.
As a result, Martha's mindset strengthened and now she plans her meals, goes on walks, pays attention to her hunger signals and says no to nighttime snacking without having to force herself to do those things.
Martha, as you will hear in this podcast, says it feels GOOD taking care of yourself and she has more helpful nuggets of advice for you in this episode too that will help you see how important it is to create a lifestyle and habits you can do for life versus simply chasing weight loss.
Martha lost inches during the program. She has not yet reached her goal weight, but is well on her way now with her strong mindset, improved self-esteem, patience and healthy habits.
Often, the thing we *think* is getting in the way of losing weight like nighttime snacking is often NOT the real problem that needs to be addressed. Women frequently ask me how to stop nighttime snacking, but the truth is you have to look at the big picture to fix the behavior.
Just telling yourself to stop snacking at night isn't effective. In fact, it creates feelings of restriction and deprivation which always leads to binging and the cycle repeats. There's always more to the problem than nighttime snacking. This is why working with a coach is so valuable.
Martha's transformation was truly transformative and I know it will inspire you to take baby steps towards the healthy lifestyle you desire for yourself!
