Making peace with food! Hear Sharon’s inspiring weight loss journey at 75 and how she made peace with her body, mind and food after decades of chronic dieting in this Dish On Ditching Diets podcast episode.

Sharon says she was in a constant battle within herself, constantly trying to deprive herself while also struggling against the deprivation. Her relationship with food was a struggle.

Carbs had become her enemy in recent years. She wouldn’t eat healthy carbohydrates like potatoes. When Sharon began weight loss coaching, she struggled with the mindset that carbohydrates would make her fat.

Also, she was addicted to the scale. She felt the scale dictated her self esteem. Sharon felt unworthy as a woman unless she lost weight.

In this podcast episode, Sharon shares how it was troublesome for her that I didn’t tell her exactly what to eat or give her a meal plan.

She had the mindset that she had to get everything right in order to lose weight.

After some time coaching with me, she says it struck her that she might not get it right and she had to come to terms with being alright with that getting some things wrong.

This led Sharon to realize how much she criticized her body. In fact, she states in this episode that women are unfair to themselves in their expectations and how they judge themselves.

“If you’re dieting all the time, you’re not loving yourself” is what Sharon says and it’s the truth!

Sharon said she always had the mindset that she wasn’t good enough and that a particular diet was going to fix her.

“I’ll survive the next diet. I’ll survive the next pound. Then I’ll be depressed when I gain 20 pounds back.”

Now Sharon realizes that a diet doesn’t fix her and that in order to make peace with food one must first make peace with the mental hurdles getting in the way.

Sharon says the mindset coaching made a big difference for her!

How everything began making sense for her during weight loss coaching, and how that allowed her to make peace with food, her body and mind.

Oh yeah, and she is shrinking in size and how it feels easy compared to the 50 years of yo-yo dieting she did previously!

Sharon says she has a brand new feeling inside of her and it’s one of peace!
