Skinny Greek Yogurt Cherry Smoothie! This high protein smoothie with Greek yogurt and sweetened with stevia is lightened up. Great for breakfast on the go or a post workout recovery snack! Gluten Free + Low Calorie
This Skinny Greek Yogurt Cherry Smoothie recipe was originally published August 2015. I've updated the recipe, retested and rephotographed for you. Enjoy!
I have something dreamy and creamy to share with you today! Now I can’t take full credit for this beautiful smoothie. The credit for this one is all Mom.
She shared it with me last year and I'm finally now, getting around to sharing it with you guys. I told you I have a lot of recipe up my sleeve! So the story goes...one day
Mom sent me a text saying how obsessed she was with this cherry smoothie. I thought to myself. Cherries? In a smoothie? I was skeptical, but being the foodie I am, I had to give it a whirl to see what the hype was all about and let me tell you. Mom was right.
This smoothie is amazing! I kind of feel selfish not sharing it sooner because I think it's my favorite smoothie or a close tie with this one or maybe this one. But enough of the smoothie wars! This is one you will find me making several days a week in the summer.
If I'm short on time, I'll make smoothie packs ahead of time and freeze them to enjoy throughout the week. A few of you have asked about this. While I realize making a smoothie takes only a few minutes, those precious minutes are ones I don't always have. I'm sure you get that.
So to combat that, I make a few extra smoothies over the weekend, cover with plastic wrap then place in the freezer to enjoy throughout the week as an after dinner treat or sometimes for dinner.
I take them out in the morning and place in the fridge so they're ready to go when I get home. It works well and I don't have to worry about taking the blender out and cleaning it every night.
Now about this smoothie....
Skinny Greek Yogurt Cherry Smoothie
It's low calorie, high protein and great for breakfast or a snack. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and tart. I personally like to have this one after a hard workout. Cherries are great for muscle soreness and reducing inflammation. It's a natural way to aid the body in repairing itself.
Three ingredients is all you need for this gorgeous yumminess unless you believe in counting ice which makes four.
What You Need
- Frozen Dark Cherries
- Greek yogurt
- Stevia
- Ice
Helpful Tips
Make a smoothie pack by adding the ingredients for the smoothie to a plastic bag or container. Store in the freezer until you're ready to make. When you're ready to make your smoothie, remove from the freezer, blend and serve!

I never thought to make a smoothie ahead of time to use during the week- it really is a great idea and I completely get the fact that sometimes you don't even have a few minutes. My kids drink smoothies, so this is something I could do on Sunday to make school mornings less chaotic. I love cherries.. so does my daughter. I've never tried Siggi's but I always swoon over the packaging when I'm in store--Love the simple design.
Having meals ready to go is one less stress!
My favorite smoothie is chocolate cherry banana. Although I just haven't been in a smoothie mood this summer, which is odd for me.
And I LOVE Siggi's!
Another chocolate cherry smoothie. I need to get on that one!
I love cherries! I just wish they weren't so dang expensive! Great smoothie recipe though!
I buy frozen cherries, they're inexpensive.
Love adding cherry to smoothies! I have a chocolate cherry protein shake that I can't get enough of! Might have to be breakfast tomorrow 😉
I never thought about adding chocolate. That sounds so good!
I bought a top of the line Vitamix five months ago and have only used it one time so far -- to grind up cookies. I should probably redeem myself by making this tasty-looking smoothie. hehehe
One time? I think that needs to change!
I just bought my first siggi's this week!! Orange ginger! going to have it tonight with homemade granola. I'm obsessed with dark sweet cherries - so amazing!!
Yum! I haven't seen orange ginger flavor. I'll be looking for that next!
I love adding cherries to smoothies! They are one of my favorite fruits, you know, aside from watermelon.
You must be sad watermelon season is ending. I know I am!
Mmmm....It's like tasting a dream huh? Well that sounds quite decadent & marvelous 🙂
Dreamy & creamy friend 🙂
I'm all about berries... but in full disclosure I don't think I've ever had cherries in mine!
I think berries are true for most smoothies. Cherries are a great way to mix it up!
I've been stirring in frozen cherries to my greek yogurt in the morning and I loooove it. I'm sure I'd go crazy over this smoothie, too! Siggi's so SO good! I love how creamy it is!
You would definitely love this smoothie then, Liz. You're practically making one already!
I haven't tried adding frozen cherries to a smoothie-looks so refreshing. Thanks for joining us again today always great to have you
You should try it sometime. It's tart & creamy!
How have I ever ever ever thought to add the cherries!!!
Cherries are often overshadowed by berries! Poor things...
SO jealous! I have been wanting to try Siggis for a while now, they seem like my kinda company, and I hope soon I will be able to. This smoothie sounds amazing! I LOVE cherry flavored things. Thanks for sharing and linking up for meatless monday!
You need to try Siggi's. It's so creamy and delicious!
I'm lucky if i have something to make for dinner this week, let along think about last year! I love siggi's, love cherry, and I've wondered about freezing smoothies and how well that would work--how do you thaw them out? Just leave them out?
It depends on the weather. In Phoenix, I take it out 5 minutes & it's already melting. Otherwise I will take it out in the morning, place in the fridge so I can have it when I come home.
Going back to last year really is a lot of recipes! Wish I had that many up my sleeve 😉
There are a lot of them rolling around in my head!
