Your metabolism isn't slow or broken and menopause isn't to blame for why your metabolism may have slowed down, and why you're not losing weight.
The metabolism is designed to adapt so that if you were on a deserted island your body would conserve energy to keep you alive. Your body doesn't know the difference between you trying to lose weight and being on a deserted island.
This process is called metabolic adaptation. If you've dieted in the past, lost weight then plateaued and got stuck, metabolic adaptation is why. This is why cutting calories works until it doesn't.
Eating too few calories below your basal metabolic rate (which many apps calculate weight loss calories below), can result in hormone imbalances as the female body is very sensitive to getting too little food. This is why 1200 calories eventually backfire for women and taking the a hormonal weight loss approach is always best for women over 35.
