How To Prep Lobster For Baking

Lobster may seem intimidating to you at first, but truthfully it’s very easy to prep for baking. First, you’ll want to have a pair of kitchen scissors. Then place the thawed lobster on cutting board. I used a plastic one to make clean up easier.

Using the kitchen scissors in one hand, slide the scissors under the shell and above the flesh on the head end. Cut down the center of the shell toward the tail. Stop cutting when you reach where the tail meets the body.

Use the scissors to cut away each side of shell so that the flesh of the lobster is exposed. Dispose of the shell and place the lobster in an oven safe dish or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. That’s all! Really very easy.

Helpful Tips

Bake the lobster no more than 5 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when the flesh turns slightly pink. That’s when it’s perfect and ready to serve!

Lobster on its own is flavorless, but you can add so many flavors to it. One of my favorite things – it’s so versatile like any fish! A pesto like this salmon pesto, a simple butter sauce, dairy-free Alfredo sauce, slow cooker red sauce, herbs, spices all make incredible ways to make lobster taste great!
