Chocolate Avocado Pudding {GF, Paleo, Vegan, Low Cal}

Published: Nov 14, 2014 · Modified: Apr 20, 2016 by Megan

Yeah for Friday! And yeah for chocolate! I'm gonna forewarn you guys. This one's strange, but really really good. But before I tell you more about it, I have a story to share about this one and my reluctance to share this recipe with you.

 Chocolate Avocado Pudding

I actually made this recipe in August, had a drafted and ready to post for you guys. Then BOOM! A very well known blogger who I adore and follow religiously posted her version of the recipe the day before mine was scheduled to go live. OMG....I seriously died inside. I even commented on her post and told her. She was super sweet. Her response was something like "I'm sure we're not the only ones who've thought of it." So I quickly scheduled a different recipe for the next day. Thank goodness I had another one already drafted. Then I was left to figure out what to do with this one. In the meantime, I scheduled it out to January 2015 until I could figure it out.

After a few weeks, I decided to post mine. The thing is the blogging community seems really big, but it's actually quite small. It's expected we're gonna trip on each others toes every now and then. Being in health and fitness, there's a high probability we're gonna write about similar topics. As I thought about it, I felt conflicted. I wanted to give you guys this awesome recipe that I've been loving as a healthy substitute to store-bought pudding. Then I realized I wanted to post it because we all have our own twist and perspective on things anyway.

So that brings us to today and this lovely heathified chocolate pudding (is healthified even a word?). One of my regrets from the time when I was losing weight, was the amount of low fat, low calorie, processed, low crap I ate.  Looking back, I ate way too much processed gunk but I didn't realize it then. If I had to go back and do it over again, I would eat more real, whole foods and make that a priority over the junk I fed my body. One of them would be this creamy Chocolate Avocado Pudding.

One of the great habits I inherited from my weight loss is eating an apple a day. I still eat one to this day. It's hard to believe I'm going on five years and still not sick of them. Probably because I keep it fresh by looking for ways to keep my daily snack interesting like by adding this pudding or my favorite nut butter.

It's also hard to believe that you can take a ripe, avocado and make it into something so sweet, creamy and chocolate-y.  Tastes just like the real thing, but even better and so much healthier. Loaded with healthy fats, no dairy or added sugars this thick and creamy goodness would make a great pair for any snack.

Hope you love it and oh yeah, swing by & Gina some love. She's my awesome and my favorite! Happy Week-ending all!

This has always been one of my favorites! Avocado is so sweet and nutty naturally - perfect for chocolate pudding! But yeah... normal people seem to think its bizarre. Go figure...

I've had chocolate and avocado together before in a smoothie. Some might think that the two together is weird, but it's actually very creamy, satisfying, and tasty too!

What a funny coincidence about the Fitnessista coming up with a similar recipe! It totally happens, and I'm glad you're finally sharing your recipe :). Chocolate and avocado blend together SO well, which is a complete shocker. I've made brownies/truffles/etc with the combo and they always blow my mind!

It can be tricky. I made muffins with avocado and they were blah. You have to get the right balance of ingredients.

This sounds absolutely delicious! I love anything chocolate and I haven't actually had chocolate pudding in a really long time. I keep seeing recipes with avocados...maybe it's time for me to just break down and try it. #fitnessfriday

Avocado is such a mild flavor. It mostly adds creamy texture & healthy fats.

I have tried adding avocado to my smoothies before and I love that creamy factor! I definitely think the health and fitness world is much smaller than everyone thinks but it is great that topics collide because it is good to have different opinions and versions. It is all about finding what you like and works for you!

    Have a great weekend!

Avocado is good for creamy! I need to try making a few other things with it.

I tried the chocolate avocado pudding before and it was honestly disgusting. It tasted waaaay too much of avocado. However, I like that yours includes almond milk and powdered PB so maybe I'll give it a try!

Ugh...I know what you mean. I made some muffins with avocado that were like that. This one doesn't taste like avocado at all.
