Let’s Walk Together Part II

Published: Apr 24, 2014 · Modified: May 5, 2025 by Megan

Hi, friends!  How's your week going?  🙂 My foot is almost healed so let's walk together today.

rp_pic601-768x1024.jpg

If we were walking together, I would tell you my Mom is progressing well after her heart surgery.  She's able to do more on her own and my Dad may even return to work soon.  I would explain about her antibiotic infusions for the bacteria in her blood and that she has 2 more weeks of them.  As well as that she has needs more time to gain strength and endurance, but that cardiac rehab has been helping with this.

pic52

If we were walking together, I would tell you how grateful I am that #Mom's life was saved and for all the medical professionals who took such good care of her.  #grateful

If we were walking together, I would tell you about my own emotional rollercoaster last week and that I still haven't cried.  How at times, I feel the tears there but they won't come out even though I'm beginning to accept what happened.

If we were walking together, I would tell you about the stress of my job and that I'm no longer passionate about what I do.  That my foot injury put plans on hold to pursue other things and that I'm trying to figure out where to go from here.  How my Mom's surgery affirmed I should be doing something in the health field to help people be better & live better.

pic153

If we were walking together, I would tell you I'm attending Blend Retreat in June, a blogger event.  That I've made virtual connections with some amazing women these past months and what a great support system they are.  I would say how much I look forward to meeting them in June.  #blendretreat

pic154

If we were walking together, I would tell you my foot is feeling much better.  That I almost have no pain and am no longer wearing a boot or brace.  How I believe in fate and that my Mom's surgery was a way for me to rest my foot so it could heal.

pic26

If we were walking together, I would tell you my Orthopedic prescribed me a cream for the spot on my foot that gets angry and inflamed when I do too much.  How he discussed with me the mental part of injury recovery and how I've struggled with my body protecting my foot when I do activities.

If we were walking together, I would show you the bruises on my leg from physical therapy.  I would explain that the therapist has been using a butter knife on my foot and calf to break up scar tissue & adhesion.  It hurts, but feels so much better after.

pic151

If we were walking together, I would tell you I started running in Wisconsin and that I've only done 5k's on the treadmill because I want to build up ankle strength before going further.

pic78

If we were walking together, I would tell you I'm still picking up marbles with my toes at therapy but also doing exercises to strengthen my ankle and balance.  That after this week, I will have therapy just once a week.

If we were walking together, I would tell you I started walking again too when I was in Wisconsin.  That my walks started at 5 miles and I've built them up to 10 miles in 2 weeks.  I would explain how scared I was that my body would forget how to go that distance and how happy I was when it happened naturally.  And that, I'm already thinking about signing up for my next race. 🙂

pic58

If we were walking together, I would tell you I'm still spinning but less now that I'm walking and running again.  How I'm considering joining a Triathlon team but scared of overcoming my fear of getting on a bike outside after a bad accident as a kid. #getoverit

pic3

If we were walking together, I would tell you that swimming is my zen.  How water makes me feel safe and happy and that I swim 3 times a week now.  I would explain how, in a strange way, I'm grateful my foot injury for forcing me to swim.  I would describe how beautiful it is in the morning, when the sun rises and shines at the bottom of the pool.  #swimmingismyzen

Thanks, Britt. It's a leap of faith, but I'm sure if it's meant to be it will work out.

I'm glad to hear that your mom is well on her way to recovery, and that you're finding some peace and calm in fitness again 🙂 It's been a while since I've gone swimming just for the heck of it, but I really do love that weightless floating feeling. And you're going to Blend?!? OMIGOSH BIGGEST rib-crushing hug coming your way! I'm a scatterbrain at these events, so please PLEASE make sure to rib-crush me if you see me before I see you 🙂

    LOVE this post!

If we were walking together I would tell you that I am struggling with some issues with my parents but every day it keeps getting better. My son turns 16 this weekend, OMG! And I need to remember to be grateful for all of my blessings in life.
