Macros are an important aspect of weight loss and I firmly believe they are the best way to lose fat. Whether you're tracking macros or not there's several key principles for success that help with fat loss as well as general nutrition and healthy eating.
Often, my clients understand how to track their food, even put together healthy meals and snacks, but they lack nutrition knowledge. That's why you're here!
A good example of this is everyone knows they need to eat enough lean protein to lose weight and on a healthy diet. But do you know how much? And why that much?
For example, women should eat no more than 30 grams of protein per meal or snack. The reason is a woman's body can only break down 30 grams protein into amino acids (the building blocks your body stores protein as) at a time.
Any amount you eat above 30 grams is converted through the metabolic pathway that carbohydrates are broken down through. This means if you eat more than 30 grams of protein, it will be converted to carbohydrate energy. And, if your energy stores for carbohydrates (which is limited) is full, your body will convert it into fat.
This is what I mean by principles for success. Think of it as maturing your knowledge in healthy eating!
