Hope your Wednesday’s off to a sweaty and delicious start! Last week I a having serious difficulty getting myself to the gym. Once I was there, I was fine doing my thing. But it took a bit of convincing getting myself there. My workouts have been good sans they feel a thousand times harder when recovering from an injury and trying to regain strength. I think I have a case of gym funk.
My injuries forced me to spend more time in the gym the last 12 months and I’m just over it. Don’t get me wrong. I love getting my sweat on, but sometimes I just want to do it alone. Be with my own thoughts, not have anyone steal the bosu when I’m doing circuits, stand right next to me when I’m on the spin bike, ask me on a date, get on the treadmill next to me and sing or better yet, have such horrific coffee breath I nearly pass out from the smell. If only everyone knew what not to do at the gym.
As much as I love my gym, I knew a change of scenary was necessary in order to get out of my gym funk. So last weekend I braved the pavement for long walk. My workouts were really hard last week. By the time Saturday rolled around, there was no way a gym workout would’ve happened. I needed something low key and walking was perfect. It was a cloudy, drizzly morning that gave me peace with my thoughts and gave me nothing random in return. Because random and weird is my life.
By the way, pants pictured above are Lulu mesh capri. Everyone keeps asking where I got them. I seriously love ’em and the other 12 pairs I own. All that was random, but what’s not so random are my eats. I guess I’ll let you be the judge. <3
Breakfast. An oldie, but a goodie. Protein oatmeal. Translation->two egg whites, berries & a single serve nuttzo.
Lunch. Veggies with cilantro jalapeño hummus…
Spinach sweet potato cakes…
And a green quinoa smoothie. I’m still crazy for these.
Dinner. Chicken Lentil Soup. I was hungry for soup last weekend and couldn’t figure out what to make. When I was reviewing blog stats last weekend, I noticed this recipe was getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest to my site. It surprised me because the original picture was horrible. So I solved my soup hunger and picture shame in one shebang. Here’s the old pic if you’re curious. I’m too embarrassed to post it.
Do you ever get in a fitness funk or sick of the gym? Do you ever just need to be alone?
Lots of Health, Food & Love,
