Hi Friends! Happy Wednesday!
I love Christmas shopping.
It’s always fun to buy something for someone and something they may not pick out for themselves. I stumbled upon something great for my Mom last weekend. I had no idea what to get her and as luck would have it, I spotted just the right thing. Love that. I love it’s killing her to know what it is too. She’s been known to open a present or two and re-wrap it. Some people never grow up! Now if I could just figure out something for my Dad. He’s the hard one. I love how Christmas shopping gives me an excuse to treat myself too. One for you, one for me. That’s how it’s done. And now that my famous booty is almost back to its normal shape I can shop twerk free. Haha.
I wish I could say the same about being injury free. Last weekend things were bad. Sunday the inflammation in my ankle flared up like in October. I must be a bionic woman because I was fine Saturday but when I woke Sunday, I couldn’t walk. My ankle was so stiff and swollen. This week I’ve been to urgent care once and Mayo Clinic ER twice (and in the same day). I was awake 24 hours Monday at the ER. I’m tired and I’m frustrated. For 3 months, I’ve been passed around doctor to doctor like a Thanksgiving turkey not getting real answers. Apparently the only way to get any attention in our medical system is going to the ER.
Thanks to a curious radiologist and the fact that I’ve been only going to Mayo Clinic where they actually collaborate between doctors and departments, the problem was identified yesterday. I see my Mayo Clinic orthopedic today for a diagnosis and treatment. I’ll fill you guys in on the rest later and vent about my frustration with our health care system too. For now, I’ll say this. While I’m disheartened by this setback, I’m relieved to finally have a diagnosis and hopefully be on the path to recovery. Thanks for putting up with my complaining and letting me vent to you guys about this. It’s been a long road and I really appreciate your support! Now for the good stuff. Retail day eats! Today I’m linking up with the beautiful Jenn for What I Ate Wednesday.
Breakfast. Another breakfast bake. This one with sweet potato, kale & turkey sausage. I’m not a fan of regular potatoes, but sweet potatoes I cannot live without. I have them daily now in some way and they keep me amazingly full.
A paleo zucchini apple spice muffin. Anything with zucchini in it has my heart.
Lunch. Mom’s Chicken Noodle Soup. I whipped up a batch of soup so the rents would have something to eat when they arrive in a few days. I’ll be working next week and I know what it’s like to travel all day and be hungry when you get somewhere. Soup is always a great make ahead and it freezes nicely.
Snack. A few bites of this amazing & huge maca nut & raisin chocolate bar my friends at Vega sent me for Christmas. Yum! Where do I get more?
Snack. A green juice, post shopping re-fuel.
Do you shop for yourself too when you’re Christmas shopping? Ever deal with inflammation?
