I am also excited by the awesome response from the mean girls post last week. I’ve received many comments, tweets, Facebook posts & emails in response to it. Other bloggers have even been writing responses on the subject. Many of you related to it deeply and that makes me very happy.
I wrote the post because it’s a topic that’s had great meaning to me since childhood. I was harassed by another student from 4th grade until high school (when she dropped out of school). Those years I felt very isolated, alone and lacked self confidence. Growing up was scary.
I never knew what the bully would bring at school the next day, the scene she would make yelling at me in front of everyone at lunch and how many times she would argue with my parents on the phone after school trying to convince them I needed to be her friend. Back then there were no laws against bullying and harassing. Being injured last year, sparked some of those memories. I felt weak, isolated and alone. People who I thought were my friends, turned out not to be.
That’s one of the reasons why I love fitness so much. It makes me feel confident, strong and never alone. Fitness builds me up, just like every woman should do for each other. Every person for that matter. Now go spread the word and BE THE CHANGE!
Breakfast. Still going strong with the Butternut Squash Spinach Breakfast Bake with baked plantains. Maybe one of these days I’ll get more creative with the plantains. I simply bake mine with a little cinnamon. They’re like breakfast candy.
Lunch. Microwave scrambled eggs with charred kale, brussels sprouts and lots of sriracha. Easiest breakfast ever. Put egg whites in a ramekin, microwave on high 1 minute and you have yourself scrambled eggs. Easy and it looks like a muffin.
Speaking of muffins, I had one of those too. A 100 calorie Double Chocolate Chip Greek Muffin.
Snack. My newest obsession, a green smoothie with oats and NuttZo. I could have this smoothie every day. I’ve never been a smoothie for breakfast person but as a snack, yes please!
Why do you love fitness? Did you feel safe growing up? If you could have breakfast all day, what would you eat?
One important announcement! I was selected as one of Sara Lee’s 45 most delightful people last month. I’m in a contest to win and become the most delightful person. I would be forever grateful if you voted for me and helped me win! You can vote daily this week, until Sunday, February 8th at 11:59pm. Thanks all!
