Are you looking to clean up your diet? Do you have a sweet tooth you're struggling to tame? A smoothie is the answer! When made properly, a good Smoothie is KING in your diet. A smoothie is a thick, shake like drink made with fruits, vegetables and protein. A healthy smoothie makes an excellent snack or meal replacement. Packed with nutrient dense ingredients, smoothies are a great way to boost nutrition in your diet, reduce cravings and tame a serious sweet tooth. Today I am sharing with you 8 reasons why you need to drink more smoothies!
Skinny Greek Cherry Smoothie, Citrus Pineapple Melon Smoothie, Cranberry Smoothie Quinoa Pudding, Skinny Strawberry Frappuccino, Kale Pineapple Smoothie, Mango Smoothie Chia Pudding, Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie, Chocolate Mocha Fudge Protein Smoothie
Boost Nutrition
While you do have to be cautious about the ingredients you choose in a smoothie, a well balanced one made of fruits, vegetables, protein and healthy fats is an excellent way of getting more vitamins and minerals in your body. Smoothies are not only a great way to add extra nutrition to your diet, but also to target your specific nutritional needs. Need more iron? Add spinach to your smoothie. The smoothie making options are truly endless!
Improve Digestion
Smoothies made with fruits and vegetables are high in soluble fiber which help to keep you feeling fuller longer. That fiber also helps the digestive track break down foods and cleanse the body of what it doesn't need making you feel less bloated and who's going to complain about having a flat stomach?
Strengthen Immune System
Improved digestion equals better gut health and better gut health also can mean a stronger immune system. Good gut health means less bacteria can seep through the wall of the digestive track into the body because that wall is stronger. This means your immune system doesn't have to work as hard when it's not constantly fighting the bad guys.
Easy To Make
Smoothie making does not mean endless hours in the kitchen slaving over a healthy meal. In fact, you can whip up a nutrient dense smoothie in a blender in less than 10 minutes. Now that's what I call healthy!
Convenient On-The-Go
Our fast paced lives make it challenging to eat healthy foods. Sometimes life is too busy and there's no getting around that. Smoothies are convenient and easy to take with you on the go! You can either make smoothie packs ahead of time and freeze them then all you have to do is blend and go or you can head to a local smoothie bar like Smoothie King for a quick fix. I get the Vegan Mango Kale. It is low calorie, packed with protein and YUM-O!
Reduce Cravings
Got a sweet tooth? Smoothies are the answer! A balanced smoothie made with plenty of fiber, a healthy fat like Greek yogurt or nut butter and paired with the sweetness of fruit is a great way to tame the sugar monster. Not only will you be sipping on that goodness for a long time helping you forget that sugar craving, but also you will feel satisfied from all that fiber and protein.
Lose Weight
Smoothies can be made low calorie with just as much nutrition and flavor. The benefit of a smoothie during weight loss is they provide your body with nutrition it may be lacking while on a caloric deficit. It also keeps your blood sugar stabalized so you don't feel deprived making it easier for you to achieve your weight loss goals.
*Weight loss is dependent on each individual’s needs and is based on a low-calorie diet combined with an exercise program. Consult your physician before beginning any diet program.
It's Fun!
Who doesn't love eating something that looks beautiful and tastes like candy? Whether it be in a bowl or through a straw, a smoothie's vibrant colors makes you want to swim in all that goodness. A healthy way to spend time with someone you love. Cheers!

Megan says
I will have to try that!
Kat says
I loveeeeee smoothies! In fact, I just made a new recipe yesterday, even though the temps are in the 40s here. Seriously, I have to be completely bundled to drink the thing, but it's so worth it to me 🙂
Megan says
Haha they make me cold even when it's 115 here in the summer.
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood says
I was never into smoothies until we started making them for my son. He's totally obsessed and it's such a great way to sneak in spinach or whatever I think he could use. It's our go-to when he's sick and not eating, because he'll ALWAYS take a smoothie!
Megan says
That is too cute! Several of my friends kids are smoothie drinks. Such a great way to get more fruits & veggies in the little ones!
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
I adore smoothies, which is funny because I used to insist that I preferred eating over drinking. But a properly made, thick substantial smoothie? Heaven. Especially when it tastes like dessert 😀
Megan says
You and me both! I always think of smoothies as dessert.
Emily says
Oh wow, that's an incentive for this girl who is often too lazy to drink smoothies. Thank you Meghan! :))
Megan says
You should do it!
Erin@BeetsPerMinute says
i love smoothies. I have my berry chia smoothie every morning. It's really the only way I guarantee that I will eat my breakfast! It's the perfect option for people who want something delicious, healthy, and convenient.
Megan says
So true!

I haven't been to a smoothie king since high school! but I loved it! I need to start making more again. Summer is coming! haha
Megan says
Summer is, unfortunately near. It's already getting warmer here.
Susie @ SuzLyfe says
I wish I was more into smoothies (my cat is ok that they only get made occasionally, lol), but I'm more of an eater than a drinker. But I do love a really solid one. But no banana, please.
Megan says
I'm with you on the banana. They're not my favorite.
michele @ paleorunningmomma says
I'm a summer smoothie person but sometimes I miss them - seems too cold for me now though! I also associate them with marathon training since I'd have one after a summer long run.
Megan says
Isn't it funny how we associate certain event or life things with food? I do that too!
