I was recently given the opportunity to review Vega’s new line of bars. While Vega provided me with their products at no cost, I was not paid for this review. All opinions are my own.
I was very excited to try Vega bars. I never had them before, but they are the type of nutrition I look for when shopping pre-packaged foods and the fuel I need to maintain my grueling fitness training.
Non-Gmo ⊕ Gluten Free ⊕ Plant-Based ⊕ Nothing Artificial
If you’ve been following me for awhile now, you know I’m not a fan of protein bars and powders because of the added junk in most processed foods. I make a conscious effort to read food labels and avoid junk ingredients.
Disclaimer – Vega provided me with 8 Vega Bars for this product review – the VegaOne All-in-One Meal Bar, Vega Sport Energy Bar, Vega Snack Bar and Vega Sport Protein Bar. All opinions are my own.
Vega Bars Review
Vega One All-In-One Meal Bar: This bar is designed to be a meal replacement bar. I’m not generally an advocate of meal replacements. But there are time when I’m traveling or running errands when I need something quick on-the-go to fill me up.
This bar is a good option instead of eating something you will regret later like fast food. The meal replacement bar weighs in at 270 calories and is packed with many nutrients.
I was sent chocolate cherry almond and chocolate coconut cashew. The chocolate cherry almond was my favorite! For a meal replacement, this is a great option and few calories too.
Vega Snack Bar: I love snack bars. I’m hungry all the time and eat 3-4 snacks a day in between meals.I usually have granola bars and nuts on hand to keep my hunger under control.
I tasted the dark chocolate mixed nuts and sea salt and chocolate peanut butter cup (of course anything with nuts is all me). The bars have 200 calories. I would have liked to see a little more protein in these bars, but overall they were tasty snack. I loved both flavors!
Vega Sport Energy Bar: This bar is for post-workout. It has 27g of carbs, which are a mixture of high and low-glycemic carbs for immediate and sustained energy, 15g of plant-based protein and 2g glutamine. Glutamine is an amino acid that makes up muscle. This bar is a great for post-workout recovery to refuel and to repair muscles.
My workouts are usually intense and long so recovery fuel is important for me. These bars were filling, but were heavier on the calorie scale for me (200-230/bar) as a snack. I tasted the apple cherry and chocolate coconut almond. The apple cherry was yummy. It sounded weird at first so I was surprised I liked that combination.
Vega Sport Protein Bar: This is another post workout bar. Weighing in at 15g of protein, this was perfect for me after a long, intense workout. I only wish they were lower in calories (240-260 calories/bar). If you’re trying to lose weight, I recommend you do stay away from higher calorie protein bars.
I liked that these bars kept me full longer than my regular post workout fuel. I had the chocolate peanut butter and chocolate mint & loved both flavors! Of all the bars, these were by far my favorite. I want more already!
Well, that’s my Vega Bars Review. Hope you enjoyed it!
Overall, I was impressed with Vega bars and I’m hard to impress. Just because I was sent free product doesn’t mean I will automatically promote it.
It’s refreshing to find products made with plant-based ingredients, probiotics, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. I look forward to trying Vega’s protein powder next. Thank you to the Vega Team for giving me the opportunity to review their product!
