Hello Hello Friends!
How’s the first weekend of August treating you? It’s been quiet over here and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for some peace. Last week was a hurricane of phone calls. I should’ve been resting my injuries, but instead I was constantly dealing with doctors, therapists, lawyers and insurance companies. So not fun. Insurance companies particularly are the worse. You really have to be your own advocate. I can’t get better if I have to expend so much of my energy fighting bureaucracy every step of the way. I have a mind to write a letter to my congressmen, state representative or someone. Ok, rant over. Thanks for listening! On the bright side, I have all this time on my hands to dream up pumpkin recipes. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, grab a cup of coffee and catch up on what you missed last week in this edition of the Sunday Skinny then go make these muffins! <3

I’ve been struggling with the “busyness” thing lately, feeling like I need to be doing something every minute of the day. I seriously need to cut it out since it’s not helping me! I agree insurance is overwhelming to deal with.
You know now that I’m recovering & not working I realized how very busy and stressed I have been. I am beginning to think a lot of my body needing to heal has been eliminating stress. It’s a serious thing that I think too often is overlooked as a real health issue. Enjoy your Sunday Michele!
Hi Megan! As always, you’ve put together a great selection of reads here. I’m glad your weekend was peaceful so far, outside of the lingering injury stress! Thanks for including my post about writing — you know it’s dear to my heart. Happy Sunday! 🙂
Thanks, Ashley! Thankfully I’m dealing better with the injury everyday. Eliminating stress to focus on healing was key for me right now. I think all of this was my body’s way of saying I needed to stop everything right this moment and get well. Hope you’re having a fun weekend!
Thanks for sharing these links!
That Siri response one? Tempting me to try myself haha 🙂
Right? I feel like they can’t be true!
I hope this Sunday is filled with rest after the busyness your life has given you recently! These are some great things. Thanks girl! 🙂
Hope you find some good reads Julia. Happy Sunday!
Praying for lots & lots of rest and peacefulness for you!!
BTW: How did you get your page where readers have to click “continue reading”?
Thanks sweetie! Are you using WordPress? If yes, then it’s on the toolbar of the post where the Bold and Italics are. It’s to the left of the ABC icon.
So many great links!! Definitely found some I’ll be sharing….
And I totally get it with the advocating thing. A big part of my job is advocating for my clients with doctors, the government, social security, etc etc etc. It’s exhausting, but I would hate for their voice to get lost or not be heard!
You have an important job Mary! I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to hear someone actually fighting for patients and their health.
Thanks for the round up. Siri questios tickled my funnybone!
I want whoever’s job it is to come up with the Siri responses.
This has been a really nice weekend…busy but nice. Went hiking, the beach, layed out poolside, hung out with family, watched UFC fights, worked on the backyard, cleaned the house, laundry, and visited my grandmother. Overall wouldn’t change a thing! Especially since it made my heart full wheny grandmother remembered me. She has Alzheimers.
Now that sounds like my kind of weekend! I’m sorry hear about your grandmother. My Dad was recently diagnosed with dementia. It’s very sad to watch.
I have had to deal with too many docs with family stuff. YES, even if you piss off the docs, you have to be your own advocate! xoxo
It’s all about insurance and money not about what the patient needs. Do you know my insurance company said even though I can’t drive, that isn’t part of their evaluation of whether or not I can obtain benefits? If I’m injured & can’t drive to work, how exactly am I supposed to get there not to mention get to PT and doctor appointments while I’m healing? Nothing is about what’s best for the patient anymore. It’s terrible.
