Happy Happy Friday to ya! I’m so so glad it’s Friday. I felt like everything was in slow motion this week. I’ve been pretty bummed since last weekend about my ankle and the tendinitis. I’ve been sad which you probably could tell from my posts. Monday lunchtime cannot get here any sooner when I finally see the doctor. I’m not leaving without answers. This is crazy and it’s making me crazy.
Speaking of crazy, I must be crazy for watching a horror movie last weekend. On my day of laziness last weekend, I made a smoothie, propped my feet on the couch and sulked with an afternoon of Lifetime movies. I never watch TV, but I was having myself a pity party and there’s nothing better for a pity party than Lifetime.
After watching the Notebook and the Green Mile, I should’ve turned off the TV, stepped away and gone to bed. I kept seeing the previews for Big Driver, the Stephen King thriller coming up next and got sucked into watching it. I don’t have a good history watching thrillers. It’s not the actual watching that’s a problem. It’s the not sleeping for days after watching them. Thrillers must have some weird effect on my brain that freaks me out. Instead of going to bed, I
I never did finish watching the end of the movie. I fell asleep before it ended. The beginning was the horrible part and caused many sleepless nights for me this week. Now that it’s Friday I’m exhausted. I don’t know why I put myself through that torture. I’ve been this way my whole life. Sometimes I think I want to check if thrillers still have that same effect on me. Yep. Still there. I’m good on thrillers for awhile now.
What I’m not good on are smoothies and this one is so delicious, I may have to whip this up again this weekend. I know it’s October, but it’s been so unusually warm everywhere. It’s mid 90’s in Phoenix. Totally abnormal. You can’t resist a good smoothie to cool off. The raspberries at the market were practically jumping into my cart. They were so fresh and pretty. I couldn’t not put them in a smoothie. It was the perfect snack for relaxing on the couch watching a movie.
This smoothie is thick with greek yogurt and almonds, packed with healthy fats and protein and those super duper tiny chia seeds. If it’s already too cold where you are for a smoothie, then you should pin this one for spring because you won’t want to miss it! This recipe isn’t strange or weird, but it’s strange and weird for October. Hope you love it!
- ⅔ cup frozen raspberries
- ½ cup plain nonfat greek yogurt (I used Stoneyfield)
- ½ cup almond milk
- ½ tbsp chia seeds
- garnish with more raspberries, chia seeds & almonds
- Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender
- Blend until combined
- Add to a mason jar & garnish
Smoothies in the fall…yeah or nay? Is it abnormally hot where you live? Can you watch thrillers or do they have a strange effect on you?
