It’s all about sweet and salty today because I have an exciting new snack to share with you, ENLIGHTENED crisps! And one lucky winner will get to try these goodies for themselves. Read on to find out how.
A few weeks ago, I received a huge box of snacks at my door compliments of the folks at ENLIGHTENED. It was packed with all the flavors of their new crisps and coupons to for their ice cream because well, ice cream doesn’t travel well to Phoenix.
ENLIGHTENED creates delicious foods with clean ingredients and fantastic nutrition. You may already know them for their delicious, good-for-your ice cream. But in case you haven’t, let me quickly tell you. ENLIGHTENED ice cream is low calorie, low fat, low sugar, high protein, high fiber, have no artificial sweeteners, are gluten free and just crazy delicious!
I honestly thought when I bought them they would be the size of a pencil because for 70 or 80 calories that’s what you’d expect. To my surprise they were regular size ice cream bars. Unlike other brands, these taste really good. The bars are available in several flavors including chocolate peanut butter swirl, coffee, fudge, peanut butter, mint fudge swirl, orange cream, sea salt caramel, orange cream, toasted almond, vanilla bean, mint and vanilla bean. I had the peanut butter and fudge ice cream bars with the coupons ENLIGHTENED sent me. They were so good. I know what I’ll be eating all summer long! I can’t wait to try that mint fudge swirl.
ENLIGHTENED has expanded their deliciousness beyond ice cream to their newest line of savory snacks, Crisps made from roasted broad beans. My first question was what is a broad bean? Broad beans have many names, but are most commonly known as fava beans, which are a legume. Broad beans are extracted from a thick pod to be eaten. They’re sweeter and richer in flavor that most beans, high in protein, low in calories and an excellent source of fiber, zinc, folate & B vitamins.
And now, let’s get to the specifics of Enlightened Crisps!
What are the best things about Enlightened Crisps?
- 100 calories for a snack size serving
- 7G protein!
- Non-GMO project verified
- Vegan, Gluten & Soy Free
- ENLIGHTENED Crisps have very few ingredients – broad beans, sea salt, oil (for roasting) and seasoning for add flavor
One thing I particularly liked about the Crisps, besides how fabulous they taste, was the packaging. This may seem silly, but when it comes to snacks I have a tendency to eat mindlessly. ENLIGHTENED offers either a 1 oz or 3.5 oz bag size. The smaller bags are already pre-portioned to one serving size, which is perfect for me. I usually fear the bigger bags because I’ll eat them all in one sitting. The ENLIGHTED larger bags actually have a smaller opening which my entire hand couldn’t fit through and my hands are small! This forced me to eat slower or portion them in a bowl. That’s perfect for anyone who has zero snacking control like me.
Here’s the Crisp flavors I tried:
- Sea Salt – I could eat these all day!
- Garlic & Onion – So garlicky…nom…nom!
- Mesquite BBQ – I’m not a big BBQ flavor person so these weren’t my favorite.
- Wasabi – These were fiery hot, but I couldn’t stop eating them.
- Sriracha – My favorite hands down. Hot & spicy all the way!
If you follow my food, fitness and other adventures on Instagram, you may have noticed I’ve been tossing Enlightened crisps on my salads lately. I love the extra crunch! It’s a great way to add protein, texture and flavor.
