A few weeks months ago Michele nominated me for the Liebster award and with all the holiday fun and my medical fiasco, I got side tracked and forgot to post this fun little survey about myself. Better late than never, right? Here are a few random tidbits about me. Thanks Michele for the nomination and if you haven't checked out her blog, you should swing by it because she is hilarious.
1. What is your current health related goal?
To get back to my pre-injury fitness level and maintain my current weight. I maintained my fitness during my injury so my endurance is good, but I need to work on my pace and strengthening imbalances. Also get my hormones balanced. More to come on that.
2. What is your biggest irrational fear?
Getting stuck in an elevator. It's happened to me at least twice in my life. Every time I get on an elevator, I freak out a little inside. I take the stairs or escalator if I have the option.
3. Do you enjoy wrapping presents?
I do like wrapping presents, but I like giving them more.
4. What’s your favorite cross training activity?
Swimming and weight lifting are my favs, of course I can't pick just one!
5. If I came to visit you, what would we do?
We would go for a hike, shop and I would bake you muffins and other delicious food.
6. You have 2 weeks off of work and 2 round trip plane tickets to ANYWHERE. Where would you go and who would you take?
I'd go to Greece. I did a study abroad in Spain and backpacked everywhere except Greece and Italy. I swore someday I would make it back to both places. So far I only made it to Italy. I would take Jaime. He's my travel buddy and if someday I ever got married my husband would just have to deal with me traveling with another man or come along.
7. What’s the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you during a run or race?
Last year I was doing my usual Saturday morning 12 miler. During the last 1/2 mile, I was completely zoned out and tripped over a speed bump and hand planted in the pavement. It was in front of a large group of teenagers doing a car wash. They all came rushing over to help. My knee and hands were gushing blood. I'm anemic so when I bleed, I bleed a lot. Being that I have an abnormally high tolerance for pain, I shrugged it off and kept going. I had 2 people stop me on the way home ask if I was ok. I had blood all over me. When I got home, road rash pain set in. I was so embarrassed. I mean if you're gonna fall why does it have to be with an audience? This pic was after I cleaned it. It was still bleeding.
8. Tell me the 3 best days of your life. Or at least the first 3 that pop into your mind.
The day I decided to change my lifestyle and began walking on the beach every night. Except for my injuries this year, I haven't stopped walking since. I lost almost all my 80 pounds simply walking every day. You don't have to be a runner or hard core gym rat to lose weight, be fit or healthy. You just have to walk. Every day. Walk, walk, walk.
Completing my first half marathon. Crossing the finish line was the most incredible feeling of accomplishment. I can't even begin to describe it. Hope I get to experience that again soon one of these days.
When I finally accepted that my weight loss made me a better person. I had better self-esteem and self-confidence, a new perspective on life and was no longer scared to live and experience what life had to offer. I was no longer timid of socializing with others either. Funny how small changes can add up big and really change you.
9. Okay, you HAVE to eat a fast food meal. What restaurant would you choose and what would you order?
Does Chipotle or Subway count? If not, then I don't eat fast food.
10. Have you ever met a celebrity?
Yes, I met this lady last March and was in heaven. I love the Housewives of OC and she is my fav. If I knew I was meeting someone famous this day, I would've put on makeup and my fancy pants.
11. Share a picture of yourself in non workout clothes!
12. If you could choose to have a ‘do-over’ and switch careers, what would you choose and why?
I be a certified health coach, get my nutrition degree, develop more delicious food recipes & take a thousand pictures of all the food, do nutrition and weight loss counseling and become a full-time writer. I would sell my muffins and write a cookbook. I think about how I can make this happen all the time. I don't want to end up having regrets.
13. If you won the Olympic Gold Medal – how do you think you would react?
I would cry.
14. What do you want for Christmas?
It's already over, but my wish is to be free of injury, free of doctors and pain. Having endured so much this year, I just want to be healthy again. That's all.
15. What skill do you lack?
I'm not a very open person when it comes to interacting with new people. I've had so many people let me down in life since I was very young. My natural instinct is to push people away and not let them in. As I've gotten older I've become more laid back about this, but it's still something I want to work on.
So there you have it. All my deep dark secrets! Now I nominate the following bloggers for this fun survey.

Thanks for the nomination! Makes me feel special that you read my blog!!
Megan says
Of course girl! You never know who's reading your blog. You'd be surprised some of the companies who've contacted me & I had no clue they were reading.

I love these kinds of posts! That picture of that Cali beach boardwalk made me really miss Huntington Beach. I used to love just going on 4 mile walks on that boardwalk every day. You're right, just getting up and active can really jump start a lot of weightloss, especially if one has a lot to lose. And OMG, the elevator...I got stuck in one (for like 5 min, but it was scary)...I was with my then 4-mo old baby and my 4yo son...some kid outside the elevator had tried to stick his hand in the door as it was shutting and it got the door to jamb...I was livid and freaking out inside..because you really don't know how long you will be in there! They managed to pry the door open eventually, but I did not go on that elevator again!
Megan says
I was stuck in one with 20 people at a hotel. A bunch of stupid drunk guys decided to jam in with us & it couldn't take the weight. We were in there an hour. Finally the guys opened the doors because emergency crew couldn't get it working. They crawled up through the ceiling then pulled the ladies up. It was awful & I was bruised badly from being pulled through the elevator ceiling. I can't imagine going through it with a baby! That's even worst because like you said you never know when you may get out.
Brooke @ wreckingroutine says
Thank you for the nomination! I don't do fast food besides Chipotle and Subway either. Everything else just seems a bit gross to me.
Megan says
Your welcome!
Jessie says
I too have been stuck in an elevator before... and now terrified of them. The worst elevators are the ones that don't have cell phone reception!
Megan says
Exactly why I avoid them if I can!
Khushboo says
These posts are so fun to read! I could completely resonate with your bit about losing 80 lbs- I lost 60 lbs and experienced the similar benefits. It's amazing how life-changing weight can be (in a good way)!
Megan says
The changes are much more than physical. Congrats on your weight loss, that's awesome!
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles says
Hormone balancing - always a fun topic. If you have any questions on the subject (as in amenorrhea-type hormone balancing), please don't hesitate to ask me...I count frozen yogurt as fast food.
Megan says
Thanks for letting me know Meredith, I'll email you about it.

Love reading your answers, and glad you remembered this as I did not! I hear you on the changing careers thing. People do it now more and more all the time so it's possible but nothing is guaranteed of course. A big challenge, but if it's your dream it's worth pursuing 🙂
Megan says
Unfortunately I overwhelm myself by the concept of making a change. I need to focus on making small changes so it doesn't seem so daunting.
Jen@jpabstfitness says
You lost 80lbs?! I had no idea!
People always ask how I got started on my weight loss journey and I tell them the same thing; just start with 1 little thing. Walk to the end of your street every day.
Megan says
Small changes really do add up big!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Thanks for the tag!!!
I would come hang out and run around eating muffins with you any day! Also... I'm gong to Greece in May! Italy is my favorite place it the world so far though. 🙂
Megan says
I'm so jealous you're going to Greece! Does that mean you're not going to Blend?
Elsie @ Sharing Healthiness says
What a great survey! I actually shifted careers last year and started studying again. I have a B.A. in Hospitality but I realized I truly enjoy writing and hopefully I can become a health and fitness writer. I'd have to say I lack openness too. I am quite introverted so it takes me some time to be comfortable with letting people into my bubble. 🙂
Megan says
I think a lot of bloggers are introverts, don't you?
Elsie @ Sharing Healthiness says
I agree! That is why we get each other. 😉
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
These surveys are always fun! I am a huge believer in walking. It used to be my only activity before I got interested in fitness. Even now I so enjoy it to relax and keep active. I have met Julia Roberts! I was an extra on Mona Lisa Smile years ago. She was much tinier than I expected. Have a great Tuesday!
Megan says
That's so awesome you were in a movie & met Julia Roberts. Now I'll have to watch it again & look for you!
Monica says
I'm with you on the elevator thing. I've never gotten stuck, but I get really twitchy when I have to use one.
Megan says
Good to know it's not just me that get freaked out by them.
