Hello hello from Munich!
I made it Europe yesterday! The flight was relatively uneventful. It started off rocky with an hour delay due to bad weather in Houston. Thankfully all flights were delayed and I still made my connection to Munich. A driver met me and another colleague at the airport yesterday and drove us to the hotel. When we arrived, the woman informed me I was the only one on the team not staying at the hotel which no one had informed me or the driver of apparently. She went over pencil written schedule over and over and said they just had no room.
After going round and round with her trying to understand her broken English, she called the other hotel and had them agree to no cancellation fee. Then she suddenly gave me a room. Then there was something about me not having a room beyond 2 days and having to share with someone. I’m too tired to worry about it now. Hopefully someone will get it straightened out. I don’t know why of the dozen people on this trip this had to happen to me.. So I have a room, but not sure for how long. By the way, my room is the size of a closet. Did I mention I’m claustrophobic?
After checking into the hotel and cleaning up, I began exploring. The hotel is downtown Munich within walking distance of everything. I kept myself awake and sane wandering around exploring the city and shopping. I knew if I went to the hotel I’d sleep right away then be up all night. By 5pm, I was dead tired. After being sleep deprived 24 hours, I could barely see straight. A bed never looked or felt so good to me even if it is the size of a shoe box.
Today I’m checking out a running trail near the hotel. Fitness is just the thing I need to snap out of my jet lag. My European office peeps were sure to circle it on the map they sent over. I’m sure it was there for me. It probably won’t be as good as my trails back home in AZ, but I’ll be there again before I know it.
The rest of my team arrives today. I’ll be bumming around until they get here. I’m sure we’ll be heading to the Hofbrauhaus later for dinner. As far as the week goes, I do have some posts going up this. I’ll be monitoring your lovely comments as much as time and internet availability allows. Next Sunday I won’t be posting links. I’ll be traveling home. Hope you enjoy this week’s links and I’ll be back in two weeks to bring back the fun! xoxo
