Lots of fun stuff happening here this week – more acupuncture, seeing my therapist, REALLY GREAT workouts, quit my job, a photography class & a friend from Atlanta who was in town for work came for a visit. I’m not sure where to begin to catch you guys up.
On the injury, this week I had another acupuncture treatment. I didn’t feel much different after, but the doctor told me the first time is always the most noticeable. If anything, I noticed my stomach trying to be more digestive. I had a hard time falling asleep after this one. I suddenly have CRAZY energy in my body. Weird.
Another visit to my sports therapist. My legs felt good the day after probably all the attention they were getting this week. I’m surprised too because I pounded them hard this week. When I know I’m seeing someone, I try to do more if I’m feeling it. Overall my workouts were awesome this week and I’m happy my legs tolerated everything.
At my doctor visit this week, he asked that I gradually get into walking & running. His words, “I know that means going out & doing 10 miles to you.” As much as it kills me, I know he’s right but I have to follow his advice. My body isn’t ready for running yet. Not even sure about power walking. Things are still healing.
For now, I’m focused on building leg strength (hamstrings & hips primarily) & working on balance. My balance is horrible. At the same time, I’m increasing endurance. He recommended I start doing more elliptical 30-60 minutes to simulate running. I’m sticking to that until my body is ready for more. I’m feeling a lot better. Fingers crossed this trend continues! In fact, I’m feeling so good I signed up for this.
RnR Arizona was the last half marathon I did in 2014. Five days later I had a heal stress fracture. This will bring me full circle. Funny how life works sometimes. Enough of my ramblings. I’ll catch you guys up on the rest of my fun later this week. Don’t miss the awesome links below. Enjoy your Sunday!
