Happy Friday Friends! Hope you’re having an awesome day. I have a crazy busy day today. Early morning spin class, swimming, an orthopedic appointment, physical therapy then squeeze in a few hours of work. Is it tea time yet?
During my weight-loss, I became obsessed with green tea. I was never a tea drinker until I read about the metabolism boosting effects and health benefits green tea offers. Green tea is rich in antioxidants, important for protecting the immune system and preventing cell damage. It can lower cholesterol, improve blood flow and reduce blood pressure. I started drinking green tea when I was losing weight a few years ago. I’ve attempted to give up coffee on several occasions, but I could never give up my beloved cup of morning joe. There’s something wonderful about a piping hot cup of coffee in the morning. Since I began drinking tea, I drink less coffee now. I have 1.5 cups of coffee early morning and another cup of green tea mid-morning. I make a point to stop drinking caffeine by 12:30 everyday so it won’t impact my sleep.
My favorite green tea is Yamamotoyama Genmai-Cha Green Tea. I order it in bulk from Amazon. I also buy Starbucks Tazo Green Tea green tea when I’m out running errands. I can be purchased at Target as well. The Yamamtoyama Genmai-Cha contains matcha.
Matcha is a green tea powder unique to Japan and is the highest quality green tea in Japan. Matcha has a vibrant, complex flavor. I would describe the taste similar to brown rice. It’s my favorite flavor by far. Recently when I re-ordered my Yamamotoyama Genmai-Cha Green Tea from Amazon, I saw Matcha powder appear below my cart in the “you may also be interested in these products” section. I immediately added it to my cart and the recipe possibilities began to swirl in my head.
That’s when Melon Matcha Smoothie happened in my kitchen! It was refreshing and delicious. I will be making this one more as it becomes warmer. I assure you a matcha muffin recipe has been in the works too. Hope you love it!
